It is never up to men that their behaviour and words are not sexual harassment. It is appalling the level of public gaslighting. Never believe anyone speaking to their sexual self image and interest, and especially get away from anyone who tells you to ignore your own ordinary human senses.
I'm going to write to my governor (Wes Moore) and state reps, as well as my city councilwoman, about this. (And as you probably know, Moore is all in on the "trans" delusion.)
That "Just Females" graphic says it all. It is unbelievable that we have to explain this, over and over and over again.
Yup. We could have put this energy toward something else - like enforcing Title IX, alas, in its original intent: equal scholarships, facilities, etc. But we're making progress.
Great column, Mariah. I predict Gov Youngkin will do the right thing if people keep the pressure on. Although va govs can’t serve consecutive terms, it could help him politically assuming he wants to run for something else.
You’ve opened my eyes to issues I wasn’t even aware of. Thank you for the education and for your activism. The only part that’s a bit foggy in my mind is the question of trans women who appear as women but still have male genitalia (I’m friends with two). Where do they go? That question aside, I’m in full agreement with you!
Hi Poppy, I welcome questions, and have spent about 3 years studying this issue intensively, asking many questions myself. All good.
Here's my answer: Males who identify as transgender should use the men's room. Because they're still male. Changing sexes is impossible, and women's rooms are designed to protect women from all males. It doesn't matter what the state of their genitalia is, nor what their gender identity is.
If the men's room feels too risky for them, then 1) they should understand why women do not want to disrobe in front of males and 2) they can make other arrangements. Often nowadays there is a family changing room or other single-stall space.
Also, men need to teach other men that some men wear dresses and makeup, and that bullying them is not acceptable.
Similarly, I have two male friends who identify as trans and do their best to appear as women. (Most men do not completely pull this off. Male bodies just look and sound different - heads, hands, feet, height, shoulders, voice, etc. Women are good at detecting who's male, for good evolutionary reasons.)
Out of respect for women, both of these people use the men's room. One explained to me, "I get some looks, but I just say, 'Don't worry about it, honey.'" The men respond okay to this, apparently.
Thank you for writing this letter. I hope it is well received.
And this line merits repeating: “I’m transgender” has become the new “Open Sesame,” a magic phrase that grants any men access to women’s intimate spaces.
Yes, here's a video of the obviously-male self-identified transgender sex offender using "I'm transgender!" in exactly that Open Sesame way while cops stand around seemingly paralyzed by the word. Thanks so much.
:-) Hi Susan, thanks so much. As for cornhole, we moved up to second place last week. More fun than political advocacy (for me at least), but both matter. :-)

Go, Mariah!

I'm so sick of it.

Brilliant work! Thank you. Sharing widely.
Thanks so much. 🙏

Love the prediction!
