There are so many things to love about this report I can’t begin to count them, though your opening cherry tomato story was laugh out loud funny (as I see I am not the first to have said). I LOVED learning that the two top teams (for now) are the only two 50+ teams—and how delightful to see photos of both teams, and the HDMA, true to its name, with one actually holding his, or perhaps someone else’s, drink in the photo. It gives my truly unathletic 76-year old self some hope. Thank you for this delightful post, a wonderful respite.
Thank YOU, Susan, for these high compliments. Such fun to make people laugh.
And woo-hoo for 50+ teams rocking it!
As for inspiring your "unathletic 76-year-old self..." SO many women in our generation simply had zero athletic experience or encouragement as kids. (I was one of the lucky few.) Hand-eye coordination, balance, strength, focus, competing and succeeding under pressure... all of those are learned, not inherent, abilities.
May I suggest that maybe you re-define yourself as pre-athletic rather than non-athletic? As noted in my story, it's mostly a matter of practice. :-)
You are so right about women in our generation! I was in law school when Title IX passed, and I used to refer to myself as “pre-Title IX.” Too many people still don’t realize how much that changed for women, and in particular their relationship with their bodies and fitness, whether athletes or not. BTW, as I have mentioned before, you are a constant inspiration. Including, over the last weeks as the group I am now part of, ROAR Women NYC, put together a little resource page on the sports issue. You are cited, the Working Grouo is cited (and I hope you don’t mind our use of the locker room photo!) We all stand on your shoulders and on those of women and girls who have been stalwart champions and leaders in this fight. https://roarwomennyc.com/2025/03/02/myth-vs-fact-womens-sports/ And now, in my PRE-athletic phase, I am going out for my daily walk!💕
Excellent on the Corn Hole! Love the “dead
aim” face!
:-) Thanks, Sharon!
This is hysterical. Thanks for a Monday morning laughing. And the image is great too. Immediately caught my attention. Wtf is this gonna be about??
Thank you Donna! WTF indeed. :-)

Love love love.
Yes to the locker room photo.
You're right - it's not about athletics, it's about our relationship with our bodies and fitness.
Have a lovely walk.
What a great story! You made me laugh — and wonder what might be lurking under my fridge. Loved the pics!
Hi Poppy, Don't look! So glad you enjoyed it.
