I have never played corn hole, but last month I watch a competition at Freddy’s. I realized how competitive people get during the tournament and how few women play this sport.
Hi Masha, Thanks! Now that I'm playing, I, too, notice that cornhole is "everywhere."
As for how competitive people get: Yup, that's half the fun, taking any activity (sports, art, other forms of self-expression) seriously, investing one's whole self in it, and thereby somehow losing one's self too.
I enjoyed every word of this! I love how, as you so often do, you segued from the individual experience to observations about single-sex and coed sports. BTW, you remind me that, while visiting my Mom, I stayed at a hotel that had two cornhole setups. Of course I thought of you when I spotted a young couple who decided to try their hand. I stayed to watch and cheered them on. Maybe next time I will try it myself, who knows!
I really enjoyed this. It almost makes me want to take up the sport—emphasis on the word "almost." I couldn't help but notice that the 2 women in the video were both left-handed. That's going to be my excuse for not joining in the fun. I find my right-handedness most useful for lifting my beer glass.
LOL! Glad you watched the video. A true sign that you really DO want to play. You're a natural athlete who only lacks experience and training. Come on over for a (very amateur) lesson any time.
Marian, I enjoy learning about your adventures into the world of corn hole competition. You have a lovely way of sharing the fun amongst the facts behind a sport.
Great job!

Good luck at your next competition!

By all means, go for it. If nothing else, it will give you more sympathy for me. :-) Like golf and anything else, it's a very humbling sport.
Meanwhile, thanks for letting me know you appreciate my story and storytelling skills. Much appreciated.

Way to go! By August, you’ll be unstoppable!
Thanks, Poppy. Will report back for sure. :-)
