Excellent piece and brought back times with my own mom. Loved the stories, the photo, and the wonderful illustrations. Thank you for sharing this with us!
I love, love, love this. It gave me chills and thoughts about my own mother. And the drawings are both whimsical and poignant with clever dialogue balloons with expressions like "miniature monk." I also think the focus on breathing is both literal and a metaphor for exactly what, I'm unsure, maybe life itself.
Hey Judy, thanks so much. Glad the story spurred you to reflect on your own mother. "Miniature monk" :-). And yes to breathing as a metaphor: Being in the moment. Being alive. Inhaling and exhaling while we can. An acquaintance wrote a book of poety "While I've Still Got Feet." Along the same lines.
So wonderful to see this graphic story live and in color! And I loved the story of you and your brother bringing your new hugging skills back home. One of the best sports.
Such a lovely post and tribute, Mariah. 💕
Thanks so much, Lisa.
Lovely, loving post. The graphic story is angelic in the best possible of ways.
Thank you, Susan!

Thanks so much, Sharon. Glad it brought back memories.
A beautiful tribute to your mom. May she rest in peace and in dwell your heart forever, Mariah!
How sweet. Thanks so much, Anne. And yes, you bet.

Hi Susan, yes, you saw a draft years ago, before I was ready to publish it. And yes, I love that hugging-education story too. Thank you!
