Persistence and tenacity come in many forms, as you are no doubt discovering. My gym has so many white haired people, now that we boomers are determined to stay fit no matter what. I love seeing us there, and I love the younger people seeing us there too, and absorbing a different image of what aging looks like. May you stay strong and inspiring too!

Thank you for all you are doing! Particularly on this “transgender day of visibility.” So much nonsense out there on Facebook today — I just want to pick people up and shake them.

And I too have to occasionally share my swim lane with a “thrasher.” Though he hasn’t yet said a word to me. So I am not as gracious to him in my head as I perhaps should be.

Oh yes, any female lap swimmer has dealt with male swimmers, and occasional female ones, who have no sense of where their body is in relation to the other bodies, or don’t care. Very annoying!

Thanks for the kind words.

Congratulations, Mariah, on your persistence, tenacity in the face of resistance in sport, in writing and in Be-ing. An inspiration to all women and girls, and to this woman, fast approaching 77 years. Though I have never been able to excel in sport—well, actually, I was lousy at it and persistence didn”t help, but I could still have fun. When I learned I had lupus, I turned to activities of the mind. While I found them stressful too, they were a joyful adventure despite ‘swimming’ through brain fog and exhaustion. This past year has been a new adventure in discovering the joy of regular attendance at a seniors’ gym despite heart failure, too. Persistence pays off for big and small adventures, May you stay strong, inspired and inspiring.. Thank you for being You,
